Ravaging Covid 19

I can remember hearing about the corona virus around late February. Then it had just come like another news in Nigeria and many people like myself thought twas like the 'Ebola virus that would come and not really waste so much time being around.. Comedies about the virus sprung up stating how the African man was so immune to such a microbe and would regret stepping its feet into Nigeria. Lol.. Little did we know that it would later bring the world to a stand still. Little did we know its ravaging effect on so many struggling and even stable Economy.. Little did we know that a lot of lives would be eliminated.. It was like that movie; Purge anarchy but
In this case, done by a microorganism. Little did we know how forcefully it would subject families to be together, workers to work from their respective homes, students to homeschool. Such an eye opener for elaborate parties, elaborate weddings, Hangout spots, showers and the likes. It came abruptly and took everyone by surprise and we are still in suspense of what's next.. Awareness and updates here and there. So Overwhelming..
My matrimony was supposed to hold in April but now I can't quite tell when I'll be celebrating my wedding anniversary, lol.. That's a story for another day.. I can remember when Italy hit an outrageous death toll especially from its older citizens, it was quite devastating watching the news of how much in anguish the Italians were. It was sad indeed.. A lot of countries were so devastated.
Coming down to Nigeria, lol, twas a funny ball game. First, a lot of us just heard from a distance and we're likened to just spectators then there was the mindset that it'll start with our non chalant leaders. Suddenly schools, work places shut down and the lockdown began spreading to all States in Nigeria and that was when it had gotten a bit out of control. People began to lose their jobs and livelihood. Top leaders and celebrities began to share their ordeals with their positive results. It became really frustrating. People died, cried , could not feed properly. People who had to rely on daily struggle to survive and feed themselves and their families couldn't do so and it became so disturbing.. Palliative measures came mostly from well meaning individuals and those from the government had excuses of shortage, of course.. However in all these chaos, the Nigerian Spirit never gave up ,  fought and still fighting..
There's no telling when this will all end however I do hope we can be able to recover from this surprising setbacks..
