Ikoyi building collapse ( The bereaved families)

I can only imagine what parents, spouses, children or any bereaved family member is going through knowing that they have lost their loved ones in the collapsed building. The thought that some or most of them getting calls to identify  corpses or not knowing the fate of those still trapped in the building  can only be devastating!!

That established, there are some things that can be avoided. A building can only collapse if its foundation is faulty,  inferior materials were used or inaccurate measurements execution. We can't continue using same methods to get a different result. I have spoken to lots of builders and Architects and they all complain of doing each other's job.  The Architects complain that Builders do not follow their exact measurements and do what they think is the best while Builders complain that the Architects just design what they feel they like without taking into consideration a lot of factors, then we have contractors who are shady and under allocate monies for the job. These are the foundational problems that needs to be tackled. We can't continue endangering lives just because of misunderstandings and greed. Remember that if you throw stones in a market place, you just might hit one of your own. If you are given a project no matter how insignificant you think it is, just be aware that someone's life might be dependent on it.. even your own!!

May God comfort the bereaved and Grant them the fortitude to bear the loss!!
